The project explores the domestic realm as a political entity, rather than a space that has organically grown out of natural human behaviour.
Studying the history of domestic design reveals the forces that shaped the move towards private domestic work and associated issues of unpaid, isolated care work.
Our research aims to challenge the undervaluing of care work and the way it is reflected in both domestic architecture and urban infrastructure. We need to stop designing for growth and start designing for care.

Edit is a feminist design collective, focusing on the enduring biases and hierarchies embedded into the environments surrounding us. Edit’s approach uses design as a tool to support more equal interactions, both during the design process and as an outcome of the finished project.
