The Future Architecture Library, is a living repository that hosts the editorial production around Future Architecture.
A project by dpr-barcelona for Future Architecture
We are super happy to present the Future Architecture Library, a project that is — from now on — a space of encounters where the books produced under the umbrella of Future Architecture are hosted. On this digital platform, you have access to previews, chapters, articles and links to purchasing websites. What’s more, you can explore new connections between platform members, emergent creatives and readers.
Future Architecture (FA) is a project aimed to promote open knowledge, creativity, the exchange of ideas and connections between a wide range of institutions, fellows, and emergent creatives. Following the same principles, the Future Architecture Library enhances open access to knowledge. While in constant growth, it is now open for you to enjoy the editorial production of FA members and other outstanding editorial initiatives by emergent creatives, thus constituting a new resource to readers and researchers in the field of architecture, design culture and urban studies.
Read online, share contents, get the digital or printed books. The Future Architecture Library allows you, dear reader, to also become an editor, and an active content creator so you can simultaneously enter our world and draw us into yours.
The ever-growing editorial production of the FA network is helping to shape future architectural discourse, following the pace of the current global context which seems to be asking for an urgent systemic change, as well as flexible ways to disseminate and access knowledge. Now you can compile contents from Future Architecture publications, arrange them by books, series, concepts and related keywords. It is a new way to tailor contents to your interests, uncover connections and produce custom downloadable and printed compilations.
We need libraries [and words, fictions, memories, books], so the Future Architecture Library is here to stay: come, join and read with us!
As Matevž Čelik — initiator and director of Future Architecture — recently pointed out in the sixth volume of the Archifutures series, ‘Agency’, “architecture can only be relevant if we turn the discussion within it towards the critical production of ideas and projects that will dictate the future,” and the Future Architecture Library is the space to disseminate, read, enjoy, assemble and reassemble those ideas.

dpr-barcelona is an independent research studio and publishing house which operates in the fields of architecture, political theory and the social milieu. Their publishing work includes several books exploring how architecture as discipline reacts in the intersection with politics, technology, economy and social issues; their publications, both digital and printed, transcend the boundaries of conventional publications, approaching those which are probably the titles of architecture in the future, exploring the limits between printed matters and new media, transforming traditional publishing practice as we know it, into a live exchange of knowledge. They also contribute often to a diverse range of publications, including books and magazines such as Harvard Design Magazine, The Architectural Review, ARQ, e-flux, and Volume, among others. Their curatorial practice includes “Adhocracy ATHENS” (together with Pelin Tan) for the Onassis Cultural Centre in 2015, winner of the ADI Culture Award 2016; and more recently, “Twelve Cautionary Urban Tales” (Matadero Madrid, 2020), among others.
dpr-barcelona are Ethel Baraona Pohl, César Reyes Nájera and Anne-Sophie de Vargas.
